So my wonderful father was over at 11 this morning and we started to Tile the ensuite.. Should prove to be fun as he was only here for 3 hours or so and we got a fair bit done, tomorrow will be more cutting of tile and fine tuning everything.. Hopefully we can be grouting wednesday :)

Rael got the living room ceiling painted as well as the bathroom ceiling, first house I have been in without a white ceiling and it looks great – will post some pics tomorrow

Installing the dining room lamp was the fun part.. So we get the lighting stuff from ikea and I have installed ceiling lights before and it isn’t a biggie. I mean turn the breaker off who cares, there is no danger.. Well Ikea + 1979 wiring is fun.. The wire colors in our ceiling are Red Black and Biege, the Ikea wires are Black, White and Green/white.  In the end the White went to the red, the black went to the beige and the green was just the ground so it got screwed to the ceiling mount.  The really fun part was by the time we figured out which wires went where the sun was down and I couldn’t see which breaker switch to throw to turn off the lights, so I just ended up throwing a bunch and hoped for the best :)   Still alive so it turned out pretty good :)

Now I am settling in wth a nice pot of Coffee, a few soundtracks(Ghost in the Shell, Gears of War2, and Mass Effect) and I am ready for my 10 hour work day to begin :)   Already pumped out an industrybroadcast.com article, so far so good :)   I just have to wait for my dark mistress caffeine to really start kicking my ass into high gear :)

Funny how something you don’t want to do can make such a difference

For some reason I have to force myself to do my holosink meditation in the mornings.. I didn’t yesterday and ended up at 50% productivity for the day.. The day before I did and kicked ass, same for all days prior.  It has obviously shown that starting my day off with it and meditating for that 30 minutes is a massive boost to my focus and everything else but still I am tempted to fuck the dog and not do it.. Why oh why?  It is so weird.. Oh well, glad I can force myself to do that.

Another wonky night, snuggled with the sneaky love of mine at 9 and she knows just exactly how to get into a position that melts me so that I don’t get up to go back to work.  So napped until midnight and then my excitement to get things done pulled me out of bed and I worked until 6 or so at which point I knew there was a warm bed that was calling.. A nice hour nap and here I am :)   Did my holosink, coffee is hot and kicking ass and taking names!!

Got Tiesto’s Elements of Life tour playing and I am pretty certain this has to be some of Tiesto’s finest work, just gets me cranked.. Need to do some domain and server work today and then read through a movie script before lunch so that I can get one of our artists in Poland started on some initial concepts..

Aahh, massive restructuring of Netvibes and a massive meeting

Finally have netvibes working more efficiently for me. Up until today I just had all of my feeds coming into one general tab(100′s and 100′s of new stories all skewn together)  Now it is all organised into tabs for General news stories, Tech news, Game Development and then Blogs.  I think I am going to do a full article on the power of netvibes and how to use it fairly soon as it really is an invaluable tool.

Phew, just finished a 3 and a half hour meeting with my 4 lead artists for the new kids game.. We have completely sorted out the visual style for this project, or at least have a clear direction.  Very excited about that as we dove into immense detail on exactly how the foreground, framing foreground, mid ground and distant background is going to look.. I can’t wait to show off the art work for this as we are going to really create something unique and distinct here.  Something impressive enough that I feel can be made into a full blown adventure game if we decide to go down that path, it is that indepth.  I can’t re-iterate enough how amazing  it is to be dealing with such talented artists.  There is such a huge swath of diversity from them all in how the imagine this world, each as incredibly talented as the next just in a different and unique way.  A truly inspiring bunch to be working with.

Ha, I had my 45 minute nap this afternoon and even with a mere 1.5 hours of sleep in the past 24 hours(+3 from the day before) I feel more awake than ever.  Now I need to create the tasks and organise everyone to get them cracking ASAP here as we have a wednesday deadline to meet here for a ton of concept artwork from characters to enviro’s.  And all this on NO coffee!! Who would have figured?

I wonder how dhruv is doing with our massive feasibility study that we need done in the next few days, which reminds me after I am done with these artists tasks I get to get cracking back on general research for my proposal document and then even more research for my design document

Today’s survival with definitely be chemically enhanced.. Mucho Caffeine in my system unfortunately and of course I used the last of the Coffee yesterday night.  I think Alex Gonzales is partly responsible for this one as the guy works pretty much as hard as I do so if I see him up then dammit I’m staying up working!  Can’t be outdone now can I?

So the Health insurance nurse was here at 7:30 to take urine samples to make sure that I am not a raging alcoholic or crack fiend as we applied for the uber low premiums because of our insane healthiness and they need to take blood and urine samples in that case before you are given them.. Good stuff.

Recording a new article on Industrybroadcast.com about optimizing the art pipeline and the more of these articles I read the more I realize I have to learn if I want to run a bloody game studio.   Shit making a game has got to be one of the most complicated processes out there and just to think there is some guy at the top that understands how each step works along the way amazes me.  I am counting my lucky stars that we will be working on a much simpler flash based childrens game first and then going for gusto with Paradise Lost as we will have a ton of learning to do and doing that learning on the kids game will be much easier than on PL.

Now I believe it is time to meditate for 30 minutes, gain some energy and power and then go out and buy another tub of Coffee.  After I am properly caffeinated I have a nice large Proposal document to work my ass off on.  I finished the concept document for the children’s title last night and I am fairly proud of it so I have high hopes for the proposal document.

I also have high hopes for the artist meeting today.  We have a meeting of minds between myself, Alex Gonzales, Roland Brown, Timo Karhula and Paul Scott Canavan.  All some of the greatest artists I have had the pleasure of working with and all coming together as a dream team of sorts to pump out this presentation package for friday!  We are going to be hasing out ideas, comparing the concept art work that was put out over the last day and a half and then finalize a final art look and feel for the project.  Should be exciting!

Time to get cracking!!

I love those days that end at 4am and start at 8.  Hmm actually are there any other kind?  I love them because the feeeling of accomplishment is imbued in my every step, my every keystroke.  I had a conversation with my better half the other night about that and how the most important thing in your life is looking in the mirror and knowing , as in down to your core, that you have done absolutely everything humanly possible, that every fiber of your being is being put towards your dreams.  Once you can look at yourself with that knowledge greatness is always around the corner.

So with that I go to put on a pot of coffee and what else this morning? Going to spend 30 minutes or so promoting the blog, an hour of recording for Industrybroadcast.com and then meditation with Jesse Pettersen is in order!  looking forward to that sesh for sure.

Podcasting done – Things are looking up

Recording a great articles by Bruno-Urbain on playtesting over at www.industrybroadcast.com and the day is looking better.. Sometimes it just takes hours to get the productivity ball rolling but a little meditation sesh and a podcast and I am off to the races.

Gratitude is one thing I cannot overlook either..
