Stay away from anything by NCH software

I wouldn’t go quite as far as saying these fuckers are installing malware on machines but it’s close enough for me to request a refund for my purchases, dispute charges and make this post and I’m certainly not the first person to complain (http://douglaswhitaker.com/2013/04/on-the-perils-of-express-scribe-software-to-aid-transcription/) .  I noticed this today when I right clicked on a 7z file and saw ‘unzip with express zip’ show up in my context menu.  Clicking on that prompted me to install some totally new software which I’d never heard of before.. Googling express zip leads me back to NCH software’s website which wasn’t a huge surprise considering they have some fairly aggressive tactics in their freemium business model.

It looks like it was installed with their image converter tool, without my consent afaik.  Uninstalling the image converter tool removed the context menu so at least that’s something but man does it tick me off when people start loading my machine up with stuff I didn’t ask for
