How to get the Zimbra web admin stats to work after installing Zimbra 8 onto a Debian 6 server

May 25th, 2014 | By | Category: Internet, Linux / Freebsd

So yesterday we got Zimbra 8 up and running on our Debian 6 machine with mysql and apache but now I’ve noticed that while I can log into the web admin at port 7071 nothing works

Even though all services are running and I can confirm that in the CLI the web interface is telling me that none of my services are running so clearly it’s not connected to and speaking with my Zimbra server so let’s fix that!

Chances are it is something to do with your logger so this is what I did to get it all up and running

  1. Remove all zmstat pid files: rm /opt/zimbra/zmstat/pid/zmstat-*.pid
  2. Restart zmlogger
  3. Run zmsyslogsetup
  4. Restart rsyslog: /etc/init.d/rsyslog restart
  5. run zmstatuslog
  6. restart zmstatctl
  7. Give it 3-5 minutes

I was thrown off as none of these things fixed it immediately but then refreshing the page randomly some 5-10 minutes later and viola everything’s up and running.  There’s now issues with some of the other admin areas but at least the basic monitoring is reporting correct.
