How to get the alt+left click move window linux functionality in Windows?

One of my most missed features from Gnome in my linux days is the ability to just hold down alt and left click drag a window. You didn’t have to go up to the title bar and click, you could click anywhere and it would just start moving the damned thing.  Windows of course doesn’t have this and it’s really one of those those things that you don’t fully appreciate until it’s gone 🙂

Well I did a bit of looking around today and found out how to do this in windows one of two ways:

  1. Install Alt-Drag: https://code.google.com/p/altdrag/ .  By far the easiest solution, just download it, install it and you’re off to the races.  Some other cool options in there to boto
  2. Install an auto-hotkey script: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/get-the-linux-altwindow-drag-functionality-in-windows/ .  A bit trickier but if you are running AHK anyways then this is probably the most efficient solution.

Enjoy
