Installing backport packages through aptitude on Debian

Just a quick little post today about getting Debian to go into the backports for that package you want to install.. remember that just because you have the backports repo in your sources.list it doesn’t mean that apt-get install whatever is going to install the bp version of whatever.. If you want to ensure that you are installing the backport version of an apt do this:

sudo aptitude -t squeeze-backports install whatever

Assuming of course that you are using squeeze, if it’s something different you’re going to want to replace squeeze with whatever release you are on
